Have you ever posted a link to Facebook and been frustrated that no image appears or an outdated picture pops up? Sometimes this is really because no image is available, but other times it is because the webpage has recently changed and Facebook didn’t get the memo.
When this happens, debug it! Paste your link in the Facebook Debugger, a Developer Tool anyone with a Facebook account can use, and click “Debug.” You will see what information Facebook sees. If it seems incorrect, click “Fetch New Scrape Information.” In most cases, you’ll be done, go try the link again on Facebook (start fresh, reload the Facebook page or profile first).
If Facebook still can’t pick up an image—and it’s a link to your own website—the debugger will at least give you information to help you (or your web designer) fix what is wrong.
Pages
Business Page Admins are allowed to upload their own images to posts (pages only, not yet available for personal profiles). If you want control over the crop, use a graphic that is exactly 484×252 pixels. If you do not get the “Upload Photo” option on your Facebook Page when posting, try using the Debugger first.
